Compelling Questions: How do you think like a feminist?
What does it mean to think like a feminist? Associate Professor of Philosophy Carol Hay will take the audience from conceptual questions of sex, gender, intersectionality, and oppression, to the practicalities of talking to children, navigating consent, and fighting for adequate space on public transit.
Carol Hay grew up in small-town Saskatchewan, Canada and was a first-generation college student. She is an Associate Professor in the Department of Philosophy at the University of Massachusetts Lowell with her academic work focusing primarily on issues in analytic feminism, liberal social and political philosophy, oppression studies, Kantian ethics, and the philosophy of sex and love. Her most recent book, Think Like a Feminist: The Philosophy Behind the Revolution, has been called "a crisp, well-informed primer on feminist theory" by Publisher's Weekly and "a winning mix of scholarship and irreverence" by Kirkus Reviews.
