Art on Thursdays presents Jackson Pollock, Lee Krasner & Abstract Expressionism

Art on Thursdays presents Jackson Pollock, Lee Krasner & Abstract Expressionism Online

Jackson Pollock is the famous originator of the drip and splatter paintings that came to epitomize Abstract Expressionism at the middle of the twentieth century. Pollock served as the de facto leader of the movement, a masculine cowboy representing “action painting.” Only in recent years has the art world turned its attention to the contributions of women artists working at the same time, including Lee Krasner, Jackson Pollock’s wife. This program explores the relationships of the artists, their work, and the enduring legacy in this revolutionary movement. Image: Lee Krasner. Thaw, 1957. Private Collection.
