The Chelmsford Historical Commission is inviting you  to a special event. Halloween is the one day a year when the veil between the dead and the living is lifted so the dead may come back and visit. There are souls buried in Forefather’s Cemetery who are willing to come forward and share their stories from the very beginning of our community to the Revolutionary War. Their stories tell of creating the foundation upon which our community and country was built.

Check in will be at the 1802 School House. Although the event is free, attendees must preregister. Every 10 minutes a small group will begin their walk guided by our “Grave Diggers”.

Old cemeteries tend to be dangerous places to walk, people see the headstones but often miss the foot stones and the ground is uneven. Also, children under the age of 11 will not be allowed, nor pets. All of us need to remember this is a final resting place and should be respected because we will be walking on the graves themselves.
