Virtual Nature Writing Workshop with Mass Audubon

Virtual Nature Writing Workshop with Mass Audubon

Join Kim Hoff of Mass Audubon for this special 2-part Nature writing course. Space is limited so please register in advance to receive the link to join the class. Registration opens on April 8, 2021.

About this class:

Focus on learning techniques and crafting your skills in creative nonfiction in nature and environmental writing, specifically the personal essay. You'll receive a few short essays to read prior to our first meeting. In the first of this 2-session online class, we'll discuss the readings in regard to technique and content, learn about history and techniques in nature writing, and then spend time writing from prompts. In between sessions, you'll work on crafting your own piece; and when we meet for Session 2, we'll discuss our writing experience, share, and spend more time writing from additional prompts. Please note that sharing your writing is always optional, and writers will be given the opportunity to receive positive feedback from the group if they wish.

Presenter: Kim Hoff is a Teacher/Naturalist at Arcadia Wildlife Sanctuary in Easthampton, MA, and is a nature writer and essayist who has written for Mass Audubon's Explore, Grist Journal's "The Writing Life", and Northern Woodlands Magazine. She is currently working on a book-length collection of nature essays.
