ASL Basics for Beginners with SIGNING Basics

ASL Basics for Beginners with SIGNING Basics

Join Chelmsford Public Library, Gleason Public Library, and SIGNING Basics, an American Sign Language (ASL) teaching organization out of Springfield, MA, for an intro to ASL course series. Participants will learn a variety of signs and then participate in engaging activities and games to help reinforce and retain what's been taught. This is an excellent program for beginners and intermediate learners, but individuals with advanced skills will have fun too! This series best serves ages 15 and above; however, enthusiastic youth ages 13 and up are welcomed to join.

The series will cover:

  • ASL Manual Alphabet
  • Greetings
  • Days of the Week
  • Foods and Snacks
  • ASL Negations and Affirmations
  • How to form basic ASL Sentence Structure that brings together the signs you learn during the class.

This series is taught in four 45 Minutes virtual Zoom sessions with a live ASL Instructor that will run friday evenings from 6:00-6:45pm on April 9th, 16th, 23rd, and 30th. Handouts with embedded videos of instructors signing the vocabulary you learn during class will be shared after each meeting. It is expected that by registering you will attend all four course meetings. To register, please visit the page for the first course meeting here.

Registrants will receive a recurring Zoom link to the event within 48 hours of the scheduled meeting.
