Savvy Caregivers for Family of Those with Cognitive Impairments

Savvy Caregivers for Family of Those with Cognitive Impairments

Are you caring for a friend or loved one suffering from cognitive impairment?

Join us for an information session on the The Savvy Caregiver program, a 6 week training program for caregivers who care for someone with Alzheimer’s or Related Dementias. The program is based on the notion that family members who become caregivers need to be trained to assume a new role, caregiving, for which they are unprepared and untrained. Caregivers will be urged to learn, develop and modify their strategies so they can accomplish their role of caregiving- which includes the contented involvement of the person they care for. The program builds information and knowledge about the illness, developing skills to manage daily life, and fosters a different attitude towards caregiving. Crystal Polizzotti, Healthy Aging Program Manager at Elder Services of the Merrimack Valley & North Shore will offer an information session on February 17th at 7pm. If there is enough interest, the Library will offer the full 6 week program.

Part of the Library grant program "On the Road to Healthy Senior Living".

This (program/service) is made possible through federal funds provided by the Institute of Museum and Library Services as administered by the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners. We also acknowledge the generous support of the Friends of the Chelmsford Library.
