Virtual Chelmsford Genealogy Club: Mothers, Daughters, Wives, Sisters: Machine Operators, Domestics, Weavers, Seamstresses on Zoom
The Chelmsford Genealogy Club is sponsoring Susan Steele & Virginia Wright who will be presenting an examination of women’s working lives from archival records, including the Massachusetts Catholic Order of Foresters. This presentation looks at the lives of women in the workplace - from domestic service to military service, from mills to medical practices. Fraternal insurance records, local history files and other industry specific sources are examined as sources of information about wages, working conditions, barriers and opportunities for our female ancestors.
