Armchair Traveler National Parks Series: Alaskan Parks

Armchair Traveler National Parks Series: Alaskan Parks

In the second presentation of our National Parks series, we will learn the geography of Alaska as we visit all eight of the state’s parks. Adventurer Steve Farrar will combine a visual tour with insights into the geology, wildlife, history, and climate of the region in the course of showing us what a trip to each of the great parks can look like. Stephen will share his stunning photographs, detailed information and compelling stories. Parks covered include Glacier Bay, Wrangell-St. Elias, Kenai Fjords, Lake Clark, Katmai, Kobuk Valley, Gates of the Arctic, and Denali.

This presentation is part of a season long series on the U.S. National Parks. Please register for this program to receive the link to join.

About the presenter: Steve Farrar, grew up in the Boston suburb of Medfield, MA and experienced his first National Parks as an impressionable 14-year-old on the way to the 1969 National Boy Scout Jamboree in Idaho.  The 5-day bus trip from Salt Lake City included stops in Grand Teton NP, Yellowstone NP, and Glacier NP which sparked a fascination with natural beauty that has evolved into Steve’s life-long passion for visiting our National Parks.  His adventures exploring 61 of the 62 parks include hiking to the bottom of the Grand Canyon, scuba diving the coral reefs of the Virgin Islands, camping among the wolves on Isle Royale, scaling rock faces in Yosemite, and climbing to the summits of Mount Rainier and Denali.

Steve’s pictures and stories of his travels are sure to stoke your personal wanderlust, so come prepared to be inspired!
