Join us to talk about documentaries and current events on the first Thursday of the month.
Log into Kanopy with your library card and find movies, documentaries, and video series of all kinds! Each month we will choose a documentary about an ongoing social, environmental, or economic issue. Watch the film on your own time and come discuss the issues and the film's take on it with your neighbors. How do these problems affect us locally? What can we do as citizens?
For our inaugural meeting, we will watch Borderland: the Line Within, directed by Pamela Yates.
From the director's statement:
"Above all, BORDERLAND exposes the vast amount of our tax dollars – 25 billion in 2024 – given to corporate interests who make profits on the backs of the suffering of immigrants. I discovered that this insidious web has come to be known as the border industrial complex. Making this film would take 5 years,and it is now being shown world-wide to meet this moment."
