Bizarre Birds of the World

Bizarre Birds of the World

With over 10,000 bird species in the world, there are some extreme examples that stretch our understanding of what it means to be a bird. This entertaining and educational program features extreme examples of birds and bird biology.  Examples include the Hoatzin, Kakapo, Oilbird, Standard-Winged Nightjar, and more.

Bio - Steve Hale has been giving slideshow presentations that showcase his research in the White Mountains of New Hampshire and his far afield birdwatching trips for more than 20 years. Steve holds university degrees in marine biology, evolutionary biology, and ecology.  He has lived in New Hampshire over 20 years and has explored most of the state.  An avid hiker, birder, and experienced naturalist, Steve loves to share his experience and knowledge with others. In 2016, Steve founded Open World Explorers through which he offers presentations and guided birdwatching excursions for group and private tours.
