Compelling Questions: SpeakOUT Boston

Compelling Questions: SpeakOUT Boston

The Compelling Questions lecture series tackles a variety of current topics that affect our increasingly global society. Topics might include geopolitical concerns, scientific inquiries, and social justice subjects. Speakers will address the topic question of the month and help attendees learn more about these important questions.

Join the Library during Pride Month to hear from speakers of SpeakOUT Boston to discuss trans lives and how to be an ally for the trans community.

SpeakOUT Boston is a "community of speakers working to create a world free of homo-bi-transphobia and other forms of prejudice by telling the truths of our lives." In accordance with their mission statement, they go by the motto "Ask Us Anything" and invite participants to ask questions to help challenge harmful stereotypes and misconceptions of the LGBTQ+ community. Begun in 1972 with the merger of Daughters of Bilitis and the Homophile Union of Boston, the organization's new name, SpeakOUT Boston, reflects the diversity of the LGBTQ+ community.

Paid for by the Marjorie Scoboria Lecture Fund.
